Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the purpose of the new cricket league is to empower the youth of Sindh.
He said this while addressing the opening ceremony of the Premier League held at the Chief Minister’s House as a special guest.
The Sindh Chief Minister officially started the Sindh Premier League (SPL) by taking a shot at the bowling of national cricketer Sarfraz Ahmed.
Provincial Minister of Transport and Mass Transit and Information Department Sharjeel Inam Memon, Special Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Law and Sindh Government Spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab, former captain of Pakistan Cricket Team and world-renowned all-rounder Shahid Afridi, former national cricketers, Brand Ambassador of SPL and other dignitaries attended.
SPL is providing a platform for young cricketers in Sindh to showcase their talents with the aim of producing world class cricketers from the province. The league will consist of six teams including Benazirabad Reds, Hyderabad Bahadurs, Karachi Ghazis, Larkana Challengers, Mirpurkhas Tigers and Sukkur Patriots.
Speaking during the event, SPL President Arif Malik said that SPL has a player development program which focuses on developing players from within Sindh.
He also said that Sindh Premier League will be telecasted in 52 countries and 10000 jobs will be created in future.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted the importance of SPL for the youth and economic development of the province.
He said Sindh Premier League is not only about sports but also about developing the skills of our youth, giving them opportunities to excel and showcasing the best products of Sindh. It is also a platform for economic development, job creation and promotion of tourism in our province.
Minister of Transport and Mass Transit and Department of Information Sharjeel Inam Memon assured his full support and said that the Sindh government will provide full support to the league to promote the untapped talent of Sindh.
Sindh Government Spokesperson and Chief Minister’s Adviser on Law and Prosecution Department Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui reiterated the Sindh Government’s commitment to encourage positive initiatives like PSL on the development of the youth of Sindh through such sporting events. will be done which will gain global popularity to attract millions of people.
SPL Brand Ambassador Shahid Afridi expressed his full support for the league and its mission and said that I am honored to be the brand ambassador of Sindh Premier League which is very close to my heart.
He added that I am sure that SPL has the potential to produce world class cricketers from Sindh. Sindh Premier League UK and Europe Ambassador Faisal Salim Khan presented the roadmap of SPL’s Player Development Program which will take cricketers from within Sindh to International Cricket Academies in England.
He said that we have already signed MoUs with major cricket academies in Europe and England. Faisal Saleem Khan also presented the official SPL jersey to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and thanked him for attending the event.
SPL Chairman Malik Aslam thanked the Chief Guest and distinguished guests for attending this wonderful event. He also expressed good wishes for the speedy recovery of Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Sports, Arbab Lutfullah, who could not participate in the ceremony due to Corona. He was represented by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs.
The League has the support of the Sindh government and the business community who support the League in promoting economic activities and tourism in the province. The Sindh Premier League is proof of the best growth in Pakistan cricket and is going to be a major global event with the support of the Sindh government, business community and cricket fans across the country.
