Washington: US President Joe Biden has welcomed the issuance of an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin by the International Court of Justice.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, Joe Biden told reporters that the issuance of the arrest warrant supports the US position that Russia has committed war crimes in Ukraine.

Yesterday, the International Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president, stating that there is satisfactory evidence that Vladimir Putin is directly involved in war crimes.

Previously, the Joe Biden administration had accused the Russian president of involvement in war crimes in Ukraine. In February, US Vice President Kamala Harris stated that anyone involved in war crimes will be brought to justice.

The report issued by the United Nations this week also said that the forced evacuation of Ukrainian children from Moscow-occupied territories falls under the category of war crimes.

However, the possibility of any action against the Russian President in this regard is unlikely because the International Court of Justice cannot take any action against the accused belonging to that country without the cooperation of the government of a country.

It should be noted that Moscow has rejected the allegations of involvement of President Vladimir Putin in war crimes.
