Irina Sabalenka of Belarus won the Australian Open Women’s Singles title. She won the first Grand Slam title of her career by defeating Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the final.
Russia’s Irina Sabalenka and Kazakhstan’s Elina Rybakina square off in the women’s singles final of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year at Melbourne’s Rode Laver Arena.
Rybakina took the first set 4-6 but fifth seed Irina Sabalenka staged a brilliant comeback to win the second set 3-6.
In the third and final set, Sabalenka of Belarus won her first career Grand Slam title by winning 4-6 against Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
