Polio virus has been confirmed in sewage samples in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.
The National Institute of Health has confirmed wild poliovirus 1 in a sewage sample from Dera Ismail Khan.
Polio virus was found in the sewage samples taken from DI Khan’s Parwa area on February 21.
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), polio virus has been found in sewage samples of 3 regions of Pakistan this year.
In this regard, NIH says that polio virus was found in the sewage samples of Ghotki in Sindh, the sewage samples were taken from Bago Wah area of Ghotki on February 14
The Global Commission for Certification, which works to eradicate polio, has expressed concern over the issue and stressed the need to improve poliovirus surveillance in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
