The price of onions in the Philippines has blown minds. The price of one kilo of onion is more than 6 kilos of chicken or two kilos of mutton.
Onion prices are skyrocketing in the Philippines due to rising inflation. Onion per kg has become 800 pesos (Philippine currency) which is more than 3700 Pakistani rupees.
One kg of onion can buy 6 kg of chicken or more than 2 kg of mutton in the market.
After the rise of hosherba, onion has become out of reach of the public, even hotels and big restaurants are not able to prepare onion dishes.
Onion is almost absent from the markets and buyers are buying onions from farmers at their arbitrary prices.
