Lahore: Prepared a summary of reduction in punishment and release of prisoners on Eid in Punjab.
On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the sentence reduction and summary release of the prisoners will be presented before the Cabinet for approval before Eid.
According to the summary, two-thirds of male prisoners above 70 years of age and female prisoners above 60 years of age will benefit. Two-thirds of serving women who are in prison with children under the age of 5 will benefit from reduced sentences.
Prisoners must complete two-thirds of their sentences and demonstrate good conduct for commutation and release. Interior Secretary Punjab Noor Ul Amin Mengal visited Central Jail Lahore.
