Jerusalem: A new study has revealed that increasing air pollution is the major cause of low birth weight in newborns.

A study conducted by epidemiologists at the Hebrew University found a significant link between exposure to air pollution during pregnancy and low birth weight.

The study also emphasized the need for more effective air pollution control to protect people, especially pregnant women and children.

The report, by Hebrew University’s Dr. Wissam Abu Ahmed and his colleague Prof. Ronit Neral, was published in the journal Science of the Total Environment.

Our analysis also uncovers regional variations in the effects of air pollution on fetal development, Abu Ahmed said in a news release. It emphasizes effective regional measures to monitor and reduce air pollution.

He said that the study highlights the significant impact of pollution on prenatal development and also highlights the importance of reducing and controlling it.
