Lahore: The Lahore High Court annulled the notification of the victory of Rana Arshad, Member of Punjab Assembly of Muslim League (N) elected from PP-133 Nankana Sahib.
Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by independent candidate Muhammad Atif against the victory of Rana Arshad of Muslim League (N) from PP-133 Nankana Sahib.
After the arguments of the parties were completed, the court granted Muhammad Atif’s request and declared the notification of Rana Arshad’s victory null and void.
In the petition filed in the Lahore High Court, Election Commission and others were made parties and the position was adopted that according to Form 45, victory was won by more than 3 thousand 500 votes.
Muhammad Atif was of the opinion that the Election Commission ordered a recount contrary to the law and in the recount, Rana Arshad was declared successful by more than 2,500 votes, while the notification of the applicant’s success had also been issued.
He requested the court that the Election Commission has issued a law against the notification of Rana Arshad’s success, so the notification of Rana Arshad’s success should be declared null and void.
Muhammad Atif had requested that the court order to issue the notification of the petitioner as a member of the Punjab Assembly.
