Islamabad: Students council elections will be held on May 16 in government schools across Punjab.

It has been announced to hold the annual elections of “Students Council” for unionization of students in public schools across Punjab, the rules and regulations, code of conduct of the students council have also been issued.

The regular election schedule has been released for the students council elections, these elections will be held in middle, high and higher secondary schools sections, in each section there will be elections for four positions of president, vice president, general secretary and finance secretary.

In each class also one class representative will be elected, for each seat in Bar Councils style only each candidate will participate in individual single election no group election will be allowed.

The Ministry of Education has announced the Student Council and said that the Student Council elections are “the promotion of democracy and democratic values ​​up to the grassroots level”.

Nomination papers will be collected on May 8-10, scrutiny will be on May 11, election signs will be released on May 11, poster making will be on May 12, campaigning will be on May 13-15, polling will be on May 16, appeals on election results will be on May 17. The decisions will also be released at the same time.

A regular election commissioner will be nominated as a teacher, ballot papers will be ballot boxes, polling agents will be present, every candidate will be bound by discipline, code of conduct, polite campaign, and acceptance of results. These elections will be held every year.

Director Monitoring Education Punjab Malik Ghulam Farid has released all the details to the school heads and education officers, the aim of the students council will be to promote co-curricular activities in educational institutions, increase in sports, speech and essay writing competitions.

After the election, all elected representatives will take oath, elected representatives, ministers, members of national and provincial assemblies, special guests, secondary level student council elections will be held in the last week of August after the summer vacation.
