Lahore: In the smog remediation case, the Lahore High Court ordered immediate replacement of the Deputy Director Environment Lahore and Deputy Director Sheikhupura.
Justice Shahid Karim heard the petitions of citizen Haroon Farooq and others.
The court ordered the change for not taking action against the polluters. The court ordered that DG Environment should immediately replace these two officers.
During the hearing, Justice Shahid Karim inquired what the CBD is going to do on the 100 hectare area. Lawyer CBD replied that CBD is going to do the project of Punjab Govt.
The Member Judicial Commission said that the housing societies were destroying the agricultural area which would create food security problems. Justice Shahid Karim said in his remarks that the government has to consider it seriously.
Lawyer CBD said that there are a lot of illegal housing societies in the vicinity of Lahore, two acres of land is bought and electricity pole is installed and a housing society is built. Justice Shahid Karim remarked that perhaps there is no policy related to housing societies.
The court adjourned the hearing till next week.
