Vapers May Suffer Cardiovascular Health Problems, Research

Maryland: A study has shown that people who vape may suffer from cardiovascular health problems despite not smoking.

In a study conducted in the United States, the data of about 176,000 American citizens was reviewed.

The review found that vapers were 19 percent more likely to develop heart failure than non-vapers.

Experts still don’t understand why vaping hardens the heart, according to study author Dr. Yaqubo Bin Al-Hassan of MedStar Health in Baltimore, Maryland.

Nicotine increases heart rate and blood pressure, and this condition damages veins and arteries over time.

Out of 175 thousand 667 people included in the study, 3242 people suffered from heart failure and 19 percent of these patients were found to be using e-cigarettes.

Dr. Yakubu said that there is an increasing number of studies linking e-cigarettes to harmful effects and research findings suggest that they are not as safe as they were thought to be.
