A hearing was held in the High Court on a petition filed against the Sunni Ittehad Council not getting specific seats.
On behalf of the Punjab government, Advocate General Punjab requested that we be given time to respond, some members have taken oath on certain seats, we will file the answer to the extent of the rest of the seats.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the matter is of an important nature and should be ordered to stay. Determined.
The petitioner took the position that according to the Election Act, specific seats will be given to the political party based on the winning candidates, the Election Commission is neither a tribunal nor a court, the notification of the Election Commission to give specific seats to other political parties should be declared null and void.
The court adjourned the hearing, giving time to the federal government and the Punjab government to submit a written reply.
