A letter was written to the IG Prisons Punjab to cast the votes of the prisoners on behalf of the Election Commission. Prisoners in Punjab jails were asked to cast their votes, on which only 150,000 prisoners completed their data.

According to IG Prisons Mian Farooq Nazir, the superintendent completed the voting process under the supervision of cameras and sent the postal ballot papers.
