Lahore: The Lahore High Court rejected the petitions filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Zulfi Bukhari and allowed both the leaders to participate in the elections.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi heard the petition filed against the decision to approve the nomination papers of Zulfi Bukhari in the Lahore High Court and the court upheld the decision of the Appellate Tribunal.
Petitioner Tanveer Ahmed had taken the stand that Zulfi Bukhari’s nomination papers were approved against the facts, so the court should declare the decision of the Appellate Tribunal null and void, but the court rejected his plea.
The three-member bench of the Lahore High Court also heard the petition of Bilal Yasin against the approval of the nomination papers of Dr. Yasmin Rashid from National Assembly Constituency NA-130 and upheld the tribunal’s decision.
The court dismissed the plea of Bilal Yasin and allowed Dr. Yasmin Rashid to contest the elections.
