Lahore: Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry challenged the decision of the tribunal to reject the nomination papers in the Lahore High Court.
In the petition filed by Fawad Chaudhry in the Lahore High Court, it has been stated that the Election Appellate Tribunal has upheld the factual decision of the Returning Officer on the nomination papers from NA 60 and 61 which is illegal.
After receiving the application, the registrar of the Lahore High Court issued a roster to schedule it for hearing, according to which a full bench headed by Justice Baqir Najafi will hear the case on Friday.
In the appeal filed on behalf of Fawad Chaudhry, Advocate Zafar Iqbal Mangat took a stand that “the tribunal gave a decision contrary to the facts, objections were raised regarding foreign visits and non-authentication of the affidavit”.
Fawad Chaudhry requested in the petition that the court should suspend the decision of the Appellate Tribunal and allow him to contest the election.
