Former Bangladesh cricket team captain Mashrafe Murtaza won the general elections for the second consecutive time with a huge majority.
According to the report of the international media, the former captain Mashrafe Murtaza participated in the general elections from Naril 2 constituency on behalf of the ruling party Awami League and he won with a large majority.
According to the report, Mashrafe Murtaza secured 1,89,102 votes while his rival Hafeezur Rahman who participated in the elections on behalf of Bangladesh Workers Party managed to secure only 4,041 votes.
It should be noted that general elections were held in 299 out of 300 parliamentary seats in Bangladesh, while in one seat the election was postponed as per the law after the death of an independent candidate.
According to international media reports, the ruling party of Sheikh Hasina Wajid Awami League won the general elections of Bangladesh, while the opposition parties completely boycotted the general elections on the basis of retaliation by the government.
