The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has decided to conduct Covid testing of 2% of passengers arriving from abroad.
Officials say that the decision of covid testing was taken to prevent the spread of JN1 variant around the world, 2% of passengers coming from abroad will be tested at the airports.
Rapid diagnostic kits for covid testing will be provided by the National Institute of Health, currently there are no covid diagnostic kits at most of the major airports in the country.
The NIH says that no case of the new variant of Covid JN1 has been reported in Pakistan so far, the advisory may increase pressure on hospital OPDs and wards.
