The Pakistani club’s participation in the first SAAF Club Football Championship scheduled for next year has fallen into disarray. Attempts by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to nominate a club for the event did not receive an encouraging response from the clubs.
The first South Asian Football Federation (SAF) Club Football Championship on a home-and-away basis is scheduled for June 2024.
The South Asian Football Federation had also invited Pakistan to send clubs for the 8-team event.
Due to the suspension of domestic football in the country, the PFF invited the three clubs participating in the last edition of the Pakistan League, Afghan Club, Muslim Club and Baloch Club Nushki, to hold a tournament between them in December and the winning team of this tournament. should be sent to the championship.
However, the PFF’s invitation did not receive a positive response from the clubs due to paucity of funds and time constraints and the PFF could not name the final squad by SAFF’s deadline of December 15.
Pakistan Football Federation had decided not to send departmental teams for the event, for which the PFF was also facing criticism.
