Azhar Ali, the former captain of Pakistan cricket team, says that the problem in Australia is not batting, but bowling.
In an interview to Geo News in Karachi, Azhar Ali said that it has been a long time that Pakistani bowlers in Australia have not been able to take 20 wickets in a match.
“Unless you bowl Australia out for 300, it will be difficult to beat them,” he said.
Azhar Ali said that you can’t go there and score 600 runs, you can score 400 or 450, but after that if you don’t get Australia out, then you will be stuck in the second innings.
To a question, the former captain said that the Pakistan team can still make a comeback in the series, but the bowlers have to shoulder the responsibility.
On a question regarding the Perth Test, Azhar Ali said that either Faheem Ashraf or Salman Ali Agha should have played in Perth and another specialist bowler should have been in the team instead.
He said that in Perth, the Pakistan team was definitely bowled out for 89, but by that time the wicket had become quite difficult and there was a lot of uneven bounce. In such a situation, it was not unexpected for the Pakistani batting to falter in front of the Australian attack.
Azhar Ali is currently participating in the President’s Trophy, where he scored a century representing the SNGPL on Monday, the 49th first-class century of his career.
Azhar Ali said that he is also keen on the 50th century but has no intention of taking back retirement.
He said that he always wanted to leave cricket on a good note, may have left 3, 4 matches earlier, but when the players started coming, he thought the opportunity was right.
