Peshawar: A gang that broke into houses and robbed in the guise of a polio worker was caught.

According to the police, a gang that broke into houses in the inner city in the guise of polio workers and robbed them at gunpoint was exposed. Under the supervision of SP City Division Tayyab Jan, DSP City Gohar Khan and SHO Police Station Shah Qoob Ali Idarsh, in a successful operation, the robbers entered the house in Shah Qoob area and held the family members hostage at gunpoint. The dangerous gang including the woman was arrested.

On November 6, 2023, the accused fled from the house of Shah Muhammad son of Haji Sher Muhammad Sukna Garhi Mir Ahmad Shah at the point of arms, looting lakhs of rupees in cash, gold ornaments and valuable mobile phones, after which a special team took notice of the higher authorities. By starting a comprehensive investigation on modern scientific lines, by obtaining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas, including investigating several suspicious persons, took action with the help of geo-tagging and mobile phone data.

The police team conducted raids in different areas of Peshawar on secret information and conducted operations in other districts and using technical means to trace the involved gang during the investigation and exposed a 4-member group including a woman.

Among the arrested accused are Naeem son of Masal Khan, Niaz Ali son of Raza Khan, Iqbal son of Maskeen and Masama (l) widow Zain Shah, who are residents of Matni, Qazi Clay, Hasangarhi and Badh Bir. During the investigation, the arrested accused also gave the names of other accused of the gang, who are being tried to be arrested.

During the operation, on the identification of the arrested accused, stolen cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones were also recovered. The arrested suspects of the gang have been involved in incidents in Punjab as well, who have recently served jail time in Adiala Jail. During the initial investigation, the accused have confessed to several incidents in other districts besides Peshawar. More important and sensational revelations are expected from the accused during the investigation.
