Lahore: Obtaining a death certificate in Punjab has been made quite easy, however, due to various reasons, citizens face difficulties in obtaining a death certificate, the most important of which is late application.

The father of Ali Raza, a resident of Wagah Town area of Lahore, died a few months ago and two weeks after his death, he went to collect his father’s death certificate from the local union council and found that his stepmother had already obtained the death certificate. have done

Ali Raza said that his father had two marriages, he has no children from his second wife while she lives in another area. His father lived with his second wife, but after his death, these people buried him in their own area. According to Ali Raza, on the recommendation of a local political figure, the Union Council issued him his father’s death certificate.

Another citizen, Abdul Rehman, says he has been fighting a legal battle for three months to get his father’s death certificate, who died in 2012. They did not know that a death certificate is required from the Union Council.

Abdul Rahman says that last year his real uncle transferred and sold the agricultural land of his father’s share to his name fraudulently. When he came to know about this, he went to the court and told that his father is dead, how can he give his property to his brother. When the court asked for the death certificate, we did not have it.

He said that we applied to the local union council for the death certificate of our father, and the secretary of the union council said that we have to take permission from the court to get the death certificate two months after the death. When an application was filed in the local magistrate’s court by the lawyer, the court asked for evidence to bring a certified copy of the burial register of the deceased in the cemetery, along with two witnesses who are not relatives, including the area numberedar.

Abdul Rehman said that no record of burial of the dead is kept in his area, we produced witnesses but his uncle also produced witnesses that his father had sold the property before his death. This matter has been going on for a year and a half now. It could not be decided whether the witnesses we produced are true or the witnesses produced by his uncle are telling the truth.

A death certificate is a government-issued certificate that contains the deceased person’s name, address, date of death and cause of death. It is important for the heirs to produce the death certificate of the deceased as the distribution of inheritance is possible only when the legal heirs of the person submit the death certificate. Similarly, it is very important to prove that the person is dead in the legal documents so that no one else can commit fraud in the name of the deceased person.

Haji Muhammad Iqbal, secretary of a local union council of Lahore, said that the death certificate form is available from the internet or from the relevant union council, the blood relative of the deceased person will get this form, it must be filled On the same form, the statement of the Maulvi Sahib or the person who led the funeral prayer will be recorded, he will sign and put his thumb and if it is a public cemetery, the name and address of the Gorgon and the names of two witnesses, their signatures and thumbs. Marks and the relationship of the person who wants to be issued has to be entered with the deceased person.

Haji Mohammad Iqbal said that after completing this form, go to the concerned Union Council and submit it, you will get the certificate in a few days. The fee for death certificate is Rs.200. He said that if more than 2 months have passed since the death, then you have to approach the court. After obtaining the judicial degree, the death certificate will be issued by the Union Council concerned. He also said that a single death certificate is issued to a deceased person even if he had more than one wife, but all the heirs are given separately certified copies.

Abdullah Malik, a local lawyer from Lahore, says that the death certificate is very important for the living people, especially for the legal heirs of the deceased. Death of their inheritance, if the deceased has money in the bank, if the deceased has a car, house, insurance money. All this will be available to the legal heirs only when they produce the death certificate.

Abdullah Malik says that apart from all these matters, the heirs must also have the death certificate to prevent fraud in the name of the deceased. It has been seen in many cases that a person died and his death certificate was not produced. After his death, the land is transferred. A fake thumb statement is written by the deceased person. Now, without a judicial death certificate, it is difficult to prove that the person is dead in whose name the property is being acquired. Is.
