Decision to transfer specific Afghan refugees to UK, flight schedule ready

Karachi: The British government has decided to give asylum to Afghan citizens living illegally in Pakistan, for which a certain number of Afghans will be transferred to London through special flights.

A major development in this regard came when the British High Commissioner met the top leadership of Civil Aviation and discussed the operation of special flights to transport Afghan nationals to the UK.

The Civil Aviation delegation was led by Director Security Air Commodore (Rtd) Shahid Qadir while the British High Commissioner’s delegation was led by the Political Consul.

In this meeting, there was a discussion regarding the resettlement of Afghan refugees in the United Kingdom and the operation of special flights for their transfer. According to the sources, it has been decided in the meeting that 12 flights will be operated from next week to the end of December for the transfer of Afghan refugees to the UK and through them a specific number of refugees will be taken from Pakistan.

Spokesperson Civil Aviation also confirmed that there has been a discussion between the British delegation and the top leadership of CAA regarding the operation of special flights for the evacuation of Afghan refugees.

Apart from this, the Pakistani delegation also conveyed a special message of Director General Civil Aviation Khaqan Murtaza to the British High Commission. Representatives of ANF, PIA and Customs participated in the meeting.

The British delegation also thanked Pakistani institutions for their cooperation and agreeing to operate special flights.

Afghan refugee transfer schedule to UK

According to the current schedule of the Civil Aviation, the evacuation of Afghan refugees for resettlement in the UK will be done through 12 special charter flights, through which two thousand Afghans will be sent to the UK.

The chartered flights will continue to operate till December and one flight will depart to the UK every week. On Thursday, October 26, the first flight carrying 200 Afghan refugees will depart from Islamabad to the UK. In this regard, special arrangements are being made at Islamabad Airport.
