The employees of Lahore Zoo started performing duties in the homes of retired officers

Lahore: While Lahore Zoo is facing lack of employees on one hand, instead of working in the zoo, a large number of employees are working in other government offices and the homes of retired officers, but these employees receive their salaries from the zoo itself.

A large number of employees of Lahore Zoo have been absent from the zoo for many years but they are being paid regularly.

According to zoo sources, 29 employees have been drawing salaries for many years, but instead of doing duty in the zoo, they are working in the homes of various serving and retired officers, including Secretary Forest and Wildlife Punjab and Directorate General Office.

A few days ago, the Secretary Forests and Wildlife Punjab directed all the employees of the Department of Forests, Fisheries and Wildlife to report back to their departments who were working in other places instead of working in their offices.

On the instructions of the Secretary, the staff of the Department of Forests and Fisheries returned to their departments, but on the same day the staff of the Lahore Zoo returned, on the instructions of the DG Wildlife, they went back to the same places where they have been performing their duties for many years.

The number of employees in Lahore Zoo is 176, while more than 200 employees are working by including Daily Wages employees. Among them, 29 employees are working in other offices instead of duty in the zoo.

10 employees of Lahore Zoo are working in the office of DG Wildlife. The minimum salary of an employee is 30 thousand rupees while other allowances are in addition to this.

According to officials, zoo employees have one day off a week, but those working elsewhere get two days off a week. No record of their attendance comes to the zoo management.

The Lahore Zoo administration and DG Wildlife Punjab did not give any answer regarding why the employees who are getting salary from the zoo are working in other places.

However, Punjab Forest and Wildlife Secretary Mudassar Waheed Malik said that he has given instructions to all such employees to report back to their departments, but due to some unavoidable reasons, some employees are temporarily allowed to work in different places. .
