Rather, some shopkeepers said that due to the noise of the generator, the customers are also affected and the noise is also very high.
Professor Dr. Ziaul Haq, head of the Department of Environmental Science, Punjab University, told The Express Tribune that old model diesel generators emit a lot of carbon dioxide, while both diesel and petrol generators emit carbon monoxide, which is highly toxic. There is gas.
This gas has no smell and color, due to which if the amount of pus in a place exceeds a certain limit, it can cause immediate death of the living organisms there.
Dr. Ziaul Haq said that new generators are using components that convert fuel into energy in a good way, so they do not produce much pollution.
On the other hand, the focal person of the Judicial Environment Commission said that all the generators that are currently being used in Punjab, whether they are in homes or in a commercial market, plaza and shopping center, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab is trying to They can be regulated.
A survey is also being conducted in this regard to create a database of generators in use and to ensure that generators are allowed to be used as per the EPA’s environmental standards.
The focal person further said that the sound, smoke, vibration of the generator should be checked as people are usually affected by these things. Therefore, the EPA is trying to co-regulate these generators so that generators that are causing environmental pollution can be banned.
