Peshawar: IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has said that Afghan citizens were found involved in most of the suicide attacks.
In a conversation with private TV, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan said that Afghan citizens have been found involved in major acts of terrorism. Peshawar Police Line, Hangu Mosque suicide attack was also carried out by Afghan terrorists.
He said that the attack on Ali Masjid, Bajaur was also done by Afghan suicide bombers. 75% of the suicide attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were Afghan citizens. Fingerprints of the suicide bombers revealed that they were Afghan nationals.
IGPK also said that local and Afghan militants involved in extortion have been arrested. 76 cases of alimony were reported this year. Traced 49 cases related to extortion. He said that the extortion calls of the big businessman of Peshawar were also traced, while extortionists were also caught from Chitral, Mohmand, Bajaur.
He said that extortionists were also caught from the local contractors of the southern districts. Extortion calls have decreased due to the crackdown on extortionists. A year ago, no regular data was kept on extortion calls.
IG Police Pakhtunkhwa said that two police officers involved with a group in the province were treated like criminals. Cases have been registered against the two police officers and handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Department.
