Karachi: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqir has decided to construct new apartments at the place of Jahangir, Jamshed, Clayton and Martin Quarters.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir regarding the urban regeneration plan in place of the old quarters, in which Principal Secretary Hasan Naqvi, Chairman P&D Shakeel Magnijo and Finance Secretary Kazim Jatoi participated. In the meeting, a briefing was given to the Sindh Chief Minister regarding Jahangir, Jamshed, Clayton and Martin Quarters.
The caretaker chief minister approved the urban regeneration project in place of the old quarters. The World Bank has started work on the feasibility of building apartments instead of quarters. The Caretaker Chief Minister said that the P&D Department and the World Bank are jointly finalizing the Urban Regeneration Plan. In place of these quarters, new apartments, shopping malls, offices, parks, libraries, educational and health facilities will be established.
Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh said that the government will fully support the residents who have to be rehabilitated. The construction of a new residential project in place of these old quarters will enhance the beauty of the entire area. The new residential project will enhance the beauty of the city by being equipped with modern amenities.
