Rawalpindi: Army Chief General Syed Asim Muneer has said that Pakistan forces failed the attempt to attack the relationship between the people and the army with restraint and prudence.
In his statement on the occasion of Defense Day, the Army Chief said that the Day of Defense and Martyrs is an important milestone in our national and military history. This day reminds us of the undying sacrifices of our armed forces. In the 1965 war, the armed forces defeated the enemy’s aggression with courage and professionalism. The great spirit of national unity and solidarity was seen in the war of 1965, with this spirit we defeated the enemy’s aggression.
The Army Chief said that Pakistan Army occupies a prominent position in the world due to its discipline and high professional standards. Faith, piety and Jihad in the way of Allah is our distinction. Pakistan Army is always ready to respond to any aggression of the enemy. It is the determination of every officer and soldier of Pakistan Army to put the defense of the country before his life.
He said that the sacrifices of the martyrs, the achievements of the Ghazis are worthy examples for us. The lamps of freedom are lit by the blood of martyrs. The sanctity and respect of martyrs is our main responsibility. The trust and unity between the Pakistan Army and the people is our precious asset. Recently, some elements made a sinister attempt to attack the relationship between the people and the army, the Pakistan Armed Forces as a national institution thwarted it with great patience and understanding.
The Chief of Army Staff in his statement further said that the courage with which the armed forces fought terrorism is unprecedented. Pakistan Army is the axis of people’s wishes and aspirations. A strong economy is indispensable to a strong defense. With mutual cooperation, Pakistan will be on the path of economic development.
