Request to increase the price of electricity for Karachi by 10 rupees 32 paise per unit

A request has been filed to increase the cost of electricity to Rs 10 32 paise per unit for Karachi.

Government request for increase in electricity price for Karachi has been submitted to NEPRA in which the increase has been sought in terms of 3 different quarterly adjustments for 2022-23.

In the application, an increase of 47 paise has been requested in the quarterly adjustment for October to December 2022.

A recovery of Rs 4.45 per unit has been requested under the quarterly adjustment for July-September 2022.

The government has requested Nepra to make the collections in September and October 2023.

The government’s request said that the quarterly adjustment for April-June should also be applied to K Electric.

The April-June quarterly adjustment increases by Rs 5 to Rs 40 paise per unit.

A hearing on the government’s application on behalf of Nepra will be held on September 11.
