California, USA: Elon Musk’s X is now planning to collect users’ education and employment information, as well as biometric data.
According to media reports, X’s new privacy policy will be effective from September 29, 2023. As per the policy, the platform will obtain consent from the users before collecting their biometric information.
So far X has not clarified how it will collect this information and for what purpose. Bloomberg claims that biometrics is for premium users, with X Premium giving users the option to submit their official ID and photo for verification. With the help of this biometric information, X intends to combat impersonation attempts and make the platform more secure for users.
In addition, the platform will store users’ education and employment information for sharing with employers and advertising for recommending potential jobs.
