Sindh: Disclosure of 1800 additional recruitment of primary school teachers

Karachi: 1830 additional recruitment of primary school teachers has been revealed in 7 districts of Sindh, 4353 primary school teachers were recruited by the education department while 6183 teachers have been registered in biometric verification.

According to the Sindh Education Literacy Department data, more teachers than the recruited teachers are registered in biometrics in 7 districts which include Jamshoro, District Karachi East, District Malir Karachi, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Nowshehro Feroze, Ghotki and Sukkur.

To maintain transparency, the details of the newly recruited teachers were taken on the biometric system, after which data verification revealed that around eighteen hundred primary school teachers were allegedly recruited in addition.

In these 7 districts of Sindh, 4353 primary school teachers were recruited while 6183 teachers were registered in biometric verification, due to which 1830 additional recruitments were revealed.

584 PST teachers were recruited in Jamshoro, while according to the data of Sindh Education Literacy Department, 687 teachers are registered, similarly, 284 teachers were recruited in Karachi East while the number of registered teachers is 474.

Similarly, 353 teachers have been recruited in Karachi Malir while 377 are registered according to the data, 584 in Kashmore Kundhkot while 688 are registered in PST, 804 in Ghotki while 1203 are registered and 1159 teachers have been recruited in Sukkur while 1922 are registered.

586 recruitments were made in the highest number of Navshahro Feroze while the number of registered teachers is 1562. According to the sources, the officers of the concerned districts allegedly received money for recruiting teachers, which amounts to corruption worth billions of rupees.

“Express” spoke to Sindh Education Secretary Ghulam Akbar Laghari about this and he said that it is not a serious matter but a process of data reconciliation. Due to vacant posts, teachers were also recruited later. So the registration must have been high.

On the other hand, an official of the education department, speaking to “Express” on the condition of anonymity, said that this data has come due to a serious error of the computer operator, the system does not yet have the data for the recruitment of teachers. was taken and the data released.

He said that the data of PST teachers was taken from primary while PST recruitments were also done in secondary which data was not taken, due to which re-checking of data is going on from some districts.

In this regard, the Sindh Education Literacy Department’s Human Resource Management Information System sought a response from the concerned District Education Officers asking them to explain the data sent by them as to how it is possible that the number of registered primary school teachers could not reach the prescribed primary level. The DEOs have been asked to resubmit all the data after proper review while the District Education Officers of other districts have also been directed to complete the registration of the newly recruited remaining PSTs and JSTs.
