Ultra-low emission zones will come into force across London from tomorrow, with drivers of high-polluting vehicles paying £12.50 a day for driving.

The expansion has been opposed by councils located around London, with 6 out of 7 councils refusing to sign an agreement with Transport for London to sign the zone extension.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan says that expansion of Ultra Low Emission Zone is necessary to improve London’s atmosphere.

He further said that 4 thousand people are dying prematurely in London due to air pollution, he also announced a grant to buy a new car.

It should be noted that the extension of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez) is one of the schemes brought in to improve air quality in the UK and Europe.
