Karachi: The fourth protest demonstration of Jamaat-e-Islami and businessmen’s job saving campaign was held in Cooperative Market Sadar.
During the demonstration, traders burnt electricity bills and staged dharna on the road. The protesters said that if KE does not restore the disconnected connections of the markets, they will surround all its centers.
The business leaders said that the indiscriminate increase in electricity bills and rising petrol prices are causing suicides, the increase in bills should be withdrawn.
Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said in his address that demonstrations and sit-ins are currently taking place in hundreds of places in Karachi, the rulers should understand that they cannot continue the cruelty any more, a mafia has been left to wreak havoc on Karachi.
He said that there will be a nationwide strike on September 2 against the additional electricity bills, K Electric should restore the power to Timber Market, non-restoration will worsen the situation and spread anarchy, KE itself, NTDC, SSGC and the city. The public is insolvent, why is his license restored despite the insolvency?
He said that they are defaulters of 662 billion rupees, they should be forensically audited, we should not be threatened as to why our staff are being molested, until the Prime Minister decides on the electricity bills, you should keep your staff. Do not send to, the one who sends the power cut will be responsible for the situation.
Hafiz Naeem said that we will fight you, we are also collecting data, which bureaucrat and ruler is educating their children on our money, we will not let anyone run away from the country, we do not need the intelligence of the Prime Minister. The price should decrease.
Trader leader Aslam Qureshi said that the KE team had come to cut the power line and sent them back very lovingly, the traders will not allow cutting the electricity connection of any market.
Business leader Shahid Akhtar said that cutting electricity connections is unfortunate, people are unable to pay their children’s fees.
Mahmood Hamid, president of Small Traders Association, said that traders are not weak, we are being threatened to end the protest, otherwise they will cut the electricity.
Sharif Memon of Bolton Market Association said that if someone comes to cut the power line, they will come of their own accord but will go with our will.
Atiq Mir, a businessman leader, said that the future of our children and the country should not be bowed down to oppressors, the problem is the unfair distribution of resources, elephants are eating our taxes, today everyone has realized that they have abused them. It has happened, the rulers consider 22 crore people as living corpses.
