The government has finalized the strategy to release funds for the general elections.
Sources in the Ministry of Finance have said that the Election Commission has refused to accept the proposal to release all the funds at once.
It has been decided to release the funds to the Election Commission in phases as per requirement.
The Election Commission will approach the Ministry of Finance for funds as per requirement.
During the last financial year, Rs 10 billion was approved to be re-provided, this Rs 10 billion will be released in the first phase.
A total of 42 billion 42 crore rupees will be provided for the general elections, while the Election Commission had asked for 47 billion 42 crore rupees for the general elections last fiscal year.
Election Commission was approved to release 15 billion rupees last financial year and out of 15 billion rupees 5 billion was released.
In the last financial year, the Election Commission used 4 billion 47 crore rupees out of 5 billion, while the remaining 53 crore rupees were returned to the Ministry of Finance.
Sources in the Ministry of Finance also say that the Election Commission had also requested to provide 10 billion 53 crores of last year again.
