Kartarpur Corridor closed by India for the fourth day today

Lahore: The Kartarpur Corridor, which was closed by the Indian authorities on the basis of floods, has not been opened for the fourth day today, due to which hundreds of Indian pilgrims could not reach Gurdwara Darbar Sahib to pay their respects.

Kartarpur Corridor Management officials say that there is no possibility of flooding near Kartarpur Corridor and Gurdwara Sahib, so the Indian authorities should open the corridor immediately.

Indian authorities on their part closed the Kartarpur Corridor on Thursday due to monsoon rains and prevented pilgrims from entering Pakistan.

Kartarpur Corridor Project Management Unit Deputy Secretary Rana Tariq said that there is no flood or flood-like situation on the Pakistan side of the Kartarpur Corridor, urging the Indian side to resume the Yatra immediately.

Head Granthi Bhai Gobind Singh of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, while talking to Express News, said that on July 19, there was a flood in the Ravi River due to which some water reached near the Kartarpur Zero Line. However, he said that since then the water level has reduced significantly and now there is no water on and near the zero line and all the way is clear.

Notably, Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal had directed to close the one-day Yatra to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur for three days for the safety of Indian pilgrims, but the corridor remained closed on the fourth day today and Indian pilgrims were not allowed to visit the Darbar Sahib.

The Kartarpur Corridor between Pakistan and India was opened on November 2019. According to the agreement, 5,000 Indian pilgrims can come to Darbar Sahib every day through the corridor.
