Prominent Telugu film industry actor Rajshekhar and his wife Jivetha have been sentenced to 1 year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh in a case of defamation of actor Charanjeevi.
A local court in Hyderabad ordered the jailing of Rajshekhar and his wife in a case filed by Charanjeevi’s brother-in-law and father of actor Alvarjun Alvarvind.
In 2011, Rajashekhar and his wife alleged irregularities in Charanjeevi’s blood bank and alleged that the organization was involved in black marketing of blood.
On this, Charanjeevi’s brother-in-law decided to file a lawsuit and now the court verdict has come out.
The court sentenced the Telugu actor and his wife to one year in jail and Rs 5 lakh, both of whom are still on bail and have announced an appeal in the High Court.
Charan Jeevi, who is the founder president of the Movie Artistes Association (MAA), has been at loggerheads with Rajasekhar on various occasions.
During a function of MAA, Charan Jeevi assured that the problems of different opinion in the association would be solved peacefully.
On this, Rajashekhar said while talking to the media that Charanjeevi did not provide an opportunity to any member to express his views freely.
On this issue, Rajashekhar’s wife apologized on behalf of her husband.
