According to Express News, due to the increase in dollar demand for payment and clearance of 6,000 import containers that have been stopped for a long time at the ports of Karachi, the dollar advanced once again on Monday, which made the interbank rate of the dollar exceed 279 rupees. While the open rate also increased to the level of 283 rupees.

It is worth mentioning here that after the staff level agreement was reached with the IMF, the value of the dollar decreased by ten to eleven rupees in the last few days, however, the government issued import LCs to meet the conditions of the IMF. The ban has been lifted, therefore, dollars are being provided for import payments from the limited reserves available in the market, which is causing the dollar to advance.
