Islamabad: In the final of Shandur Polo Festival, Chitral defeated Gilgit-Baltistan by 7 goals to 5 after a fierce competition, the three-day festival ended with colorful celebrations.
On the last day of the festival, a large number of local and foreign tourists enjoyed a polo match, the closing ceremony was attended by Corps Commander Peshawar as the chief guest, along with a large number of local people including high civil and military officials from the fest. Enjoyed.
On the last day of the festival, school children performed tableau while Frontier Corps and bands from Gilgit-Baltistan played national songs, local artistes also performed Waziristani, Chitrali, Khatak and Kailashi dances on this occasion. Paragliders and SSG commandos of Pak Army received a standing ovation from the audience by paratrooping in the event.
The chief guest awarded trophies and cash prizes to the best performing players, runners-up and winning teams, on the occasion announcing the establishment of a fund for the promotion of Shandur Polo Festival, the welfare of ex-polo players and the recognition of this festival at the global level.
