Jamaat-e-Islami should come out of sit-ins, member KP

Islamabad: The Election Commission summoned the presiding officers over the difference in the results in the Sindh Local Government Election.

In the Election Commission, the case of change of results in UC 12 Manghopir Karachi was heard.

The KP member said that the defeated candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami is not a petitioner, the right of a political party is not a claim, Jamaat-e-Islami should come out of sit-ins.

Member Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi said that if the right is claimed, the Election Commission has yet to hold more elections, they cannot put every case on the tribunal to keep the case going for five years.

The lawyer of Jamaat-e-Islami, while presenting the original Form 11 containing the difference in the results of Orangi Town, said that Jamaat-e-Islami was also successful in Orangi Town but the results were changed to the third place, the same method of rigging was adopted in the whole of Sindh. In every district, the advantage of rigging and changing the results was conveyed to the PPP.

Saeed Ghani said that Jamaat-e-Islami lost all three seats on the recount.

The KP member said that the trend of not accepting the results after losing must be ended, according to the law, all the cases of Jamaat-e-Islami are premature.

The Returning Officer replied that he prepared the result according to the results given by the Presiding Officer, in such a rush it is possible that the stamp was left.

Member Sindh Nisar Durrani said that rush and workload should not be justified, how is it possible to give different results to two different candidates.

The Election Commission summoned the concerned presiding officers over the discrepancy in the results and adjourned the hearing of the case till February 22.

A hearing was also held in the Election Commission on the petition of PTI leader Ali Zaidi against rigging in Karachi municipal elections.

Ali Zaidi’s lawyer said that returning officers were brought from outside Karachi for rigging, all administrators were replaced by the Sindh government and replaced by MQM, officers who became tools of political parties should be sent to jail.
