Islamabad: The National Assembly, by majority vote, opposed the motion to send the Finance Bill 2023 to the Council of Islamic Ideology.
Except Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, the only member of Jamaat-e-Islami, all the government and opposition members opposed taking the opinion of the Islamic Ideological Council on the Finance Bill due to the inclusion of interest.
Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali demanded that the Finance Bill be sent to the Islamic Ideological Council for an Islamic-scale review.
The sole member of Jamaat-e-Islami presented a motion and said that the finance bill is based on the usury system and by approving it, the government is going against the decision of the federal Shariah court to abolish interest.
Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali said that the government has also withdrawn two petitions filed in favor of interest from the Supreme Court, now the finance bill includes interest, so if the opinion of the Islamic Ideological Council is not taken on it, it will be referred to the Federal Sharia Court. The decision will be violated.

The anti-usury government coalition party JUI also opposed sending the finance bill to the Islamic Ideological Council, while the government coalition parties and the opposition parties also opposed sending the finance bill to the Islamic Ideological Council.
