In the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, the local leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Neel Kanth was killed by Maoist rebels.
Neil Kanth, who was the district president of the BJP for the past 15 years, had gone to his native village Pakram yesterday to attend a wedding ceremony.
The ASP said that members of the banned Maoist party attacked Neil Kanth with axes and other sharp instruments, killing him on the spot.
The BGP leader’s wife Lalitha said three men forced Neelkanth out of the house, brutally tortured him in front of the house and the villagers.
According to the police, 150 Maoists had come to the village to attack, out of which three killed the BJP leader after throwing him out of the house.
