Approval to implement new curriculum from Class IX to XII

Islamabad: The federal government approved the implementation of the new curriculum from Class IX to XII, the Secretary Ministry of Education approved the implementation of the new curriculum.

The new curriculum will be implemented in the schools of the federal capital and federal ministries.

According to the notification issued by Sohail bin Aziz, Assistant Educational Advisor of the National Curriculum Council, the new curriculum of the ninth and eleventh classes will be implemented in 2024, the new curriculum of the tenth and twelfth classes will be implemented in 2025, the notification of the new curriculum has been sent to all provinces. , the provinces will notify the implementation of the new syllabus with the approval of their laws and cabinet.

According to the Ministry of Federal Education sources, experts from the provinces gave their opinions in the formation of the new curriculum, policy dialogues were also held in the provinces to harmonize the curriculum. The new curriculum includes Urdu, English, Pakistan Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Islamiat and Entrepreneurship.

According to the declaration, this curriculum will be applied to all educational institutions in Islamabad as well as institutions established under the federal government across the country and no department will be exempted from it.

According to the Federal Ministry of Education, relevant stakeholders were involved at all levels along with all measures of curriculum development. A comprehensive consultation exercise was conducted with stakeholders including policy makers, academics, teachers, parents and students from across Pakistan. For this purpose, not only policy dialogues were organized across Pakistan, but also several curriculum workshops were organized to get feedback from the concerned authorities.

The National Curriculum Council had also given an opportunity to the public to express their views through an online portal. After regional curriculum workshops in each province, a final curriculum workshop was organized at NCC Secretariat Islamabad in which nominated experts from all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan signed the syllabus for nine subjects including Urdu, English, Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science are included. Several stakeholder meetings were convened to ensure implementation of the curriculum.

After detailed deliberations, the syllabus notification has been issued for all institutions under Islamabad and federal ministries. Along with the notification, an implementation plan has also been issued, according to which the syllabus of class 9 and 11 will be implemented from 2024 and the syllabus of class 10 and 12 will be implemented from the academic year 2025.

According to National Curriculum Council sources, preparation of international standards for National Curriculum of Pakistan was our first responsibility which has been completed. Along with this, efforts will be made to prepare standard books, train teachers and improve the examination system so that the curriculum can be implemented in the best way. Provinces will review the syllabus as per their Acts and Rules and issue notification thereof.
