Stockholm: A Swedish court rejected a police ban on a gathering organized for the unholy audacity of burning the Holy Quran, saying the police had no legal justification to stop the gathering.
According to the World News Agency, the same decision was also given by the administrative court and the organizers were allowed to hold the meeting, against which the police went to the appeal court and pleaded that such gatherings could lead to breach of peace.
The Court of Appeal, however, upheld the decision of the Administrative Court, stating that security concerns were not sufficient to limit the right to demonstration and assembly. Therefore, protests and gatherings cannot be banned.
