Budget 2023-24, approval of federal development program of 1150 billion rupees

The federal cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has started in which the budget of 2023-24 is being approved.

Federal ministers are also participating in the budget meeting of the cabinet.

According to the sources, in the budget meeting, the Federal Cabinet approved the Federal Development Program (PSDP) worth 1150 billion rupees.

The cabinet approved allocation of Rs 491.3 billion for infrastructure, Rs 86.4 billion for the energy sector.

The federal cabinet has also approved the allocation of 263.6 billion rupees for the transport and communication sector.

In the budget meeting, the allocation of 99.8 billion rupees for reservoirs and water sector, 41.5 billion rupees for physical planning and construction sector was also approved.

The federal cabinet approved Rs 81.9 billion for the education and higher education sector.

In the meeting, it was approved to allocate 60.9 billion rupees for special areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and 57 billion rupees for the districts merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision to increase salaries and pension will be taken today

In the meeting of the federal cabinet, the final decision will be taken to increase the salaries and pensions of government employees.

The Cabinet will be briefed by the officials of the Ministry of Finance on the budget layout.

The decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee of May 24 and June 7 will be ratified in the cabinet meeting.

The budget will be presented in the National Assembly after the approval of the Federal Cabinet.

Government employees protest for salary increase

During the budget session of the federal cabinet, the protest of government employees for salary increase continued outside the parliament house.

The federal police stopped the protesters by blocking the road from one side.

On this occasion, Rehman Bajwa, the protest leader of government employees, was released.

The budget documents were delivered to Parliament House

Before the meeting, the budget documents were delivered to the committee room for the Cabinet meeting at Parliament House.

These budget documents have been delivered to the Parliament House by FBR staff under the security of Islamabad Police personnel.

The documents were also screened by the security staff before they were taken to Committee Room No. 2.
