Karachi: The establishment of a new university in Hyderabad, the second largest city of Sindh, has become a dream of the federal government.

Despite providing 100 acres of land free of cost for the university under the name of “Hyderabad Institute for Technology and Management Sciences”, the federal government has not been able to activate the university even after 8 months. 100 acres of land in Latifabad area was provided free of cost to Higher Education Commission Islam in October last year.

However, it is now being told that there is a deadlock on the appointment of the new and first vice-chancellor in this university and the name of the candidate recommended by the search committee as the vice-chancellor is not agreed to by the President/Chancellor Secretariat, while the search committee itself has Initially the name of the concerned candidate was kept out of the shortlisted three suitable names.

Later, on the intervention of the Federal Ministry of Education, the relevant name was not only included in the list of shortlisted candidates, but this name was placed in the first row and it is said that one of the three names that were initially finalized was removed. In this regard, a political party of Sindh insisted that they do not want to see any other candidate for the position of vice-chancellor in this university other than the relevant name, and this political party’s insistence was conveyed to Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif. After which the Federal Ministry of Education took the search committee into confidence and placed the name of the relevant candidate in the list of shortlisted candidates. “We have sent three names to the Prime Minister, according to the reports, the summary is in the Prime Minister’s House. We do not know the reason for the delay.”
In addition, according to the sources of the Ministry of Education and the search committee, the 3 suitable names that were shortlisted after the initial interview were former vice-chancellor Sindh Madrasa University Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Islamic University Islamabad Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Jamani and Sindh. The name of Dr. Madad Ali Shah, the former vice chancellor of the Technical University of K, was included, but the name of the candidate who was being insisted on by a political party.
He had no experience of vice-chancellorship, the limit being that he was not even a grade 21 professor of university cadre, he had college and education board experience, while the relevant candidates satisfactorily answered the questions posed to the interview panel. He could not give and also could not tell what is the act of the university of which he wants to become the vice chancellor, however, on the intervention of the Ministry of Education, the name of the said retired professor of the college cadre was included in the list of shortlisted candidates.

Secretary Education confirmed that the names of Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh and Dr Jumani have been sent to the Prime Minister in addition to the relevant names.
It should be noted that initially it was decided that the construction of various buildings of the university would take several years, so in order to start the university immediately and give admissions, Hyderabad Institute for Technology and Management was constructed from a building near the land of this university. Sciences will start its work According to the University Act, currently admissions were to be given in “Faculty of ICT (Arts and Humanities), Faculty of Design, Music and Creative Art, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, but all these Some have been delayed due to non-appointment of the Vice-Chancellor.
