460 killed in Sudan civil war, including two Americans

Washington: The United States has confirmed the death of a second American in the civil war between warring parties in Sudan.

US national security spokesman John Kirby has confirmed the death of a second US citizen in Sudan in a press conference and expressed his deepest condolences to the families.

Kirby had earlier announced the death of the first American last Friday in what he said was the tragic death of an American in Sudan’s civil war. Kirby did not identify the deceased but expressed his condolences to his family.

Kirby said the US has made clear to the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitia group that they have a responsibility to protect civilians, non-combatants, social workers and foreigners. .

“We urge both sides to maintain the ceasefire and extend it further,” Kirby added.

It should be noted that at least 460 people have been killed and more than 4000 injured in the clashes between the army and RSF forces since April 15.
