Islamabad: A meeting of the Central Sawal Hilal Committee will be held today to see the moon of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the meeting of Rawit Hilal Committee held in Islamabad. Meetings of Zonal Committees will be held at designated locations across the country.
Astronomers say that the moon of Eid is not likely to be seen this evening, so Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2023 after the completion of 30 fasts. Rawit Hilal Research Council Secretary General Khalid Ijaz Mufti says that Thursday 20 New Moon will be born on April 9 at 15:49. From this perspective, the age of the moon at the time of sunset in the evening will be 9 hours 33 minutes 12 seconds. On the evening of April 20, the sun will set at 6:49 minutes 1 second, while the moon will go below the horizon at 7:10 minutes 3 seconds. Considering these and other technical details, the chances of seeing the moon of 1st Shawwal-ul-Mukarram today are less.
According to the astronomers, it is necessary for the sighting that the moon should remain on the horizon for 40 to 50 minutes after sunset, while the moon will remain on the horizon for only 21 minutes after sunset on April 20 in Pakistan.
