South Africa lost to West Indies in the third ODI, tied the series 1-1

Pochistrom: South Africa defeated West Indies by four wickets in the last match of the three-match ODI series to level the series at one-one. The first match could not be played due to rain.

The highlight of the South African innings was middle-order batsman Heinrich Klaasen’s smoky century, thanks to which the Proteas chased down the target of 261 runs in just the thirtieth over. Heinrich played a key role in leveling the three-match series by playing a blistering innings of 119 runs off just 61 balls with the help of 15 fours and 5 sixes. It was Hinrich’s second ODI century.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and invited the visiting team to bat first. However, apart from opener Brandon King (72 runs), none of the batsmen could show remarkable performance. West Indies’ wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, and the entire team was bowled out for 260 runs in 48.2 overs.

For the Proteas, Marco Johnson, Bevan Forton and Gerald Coetzee took two batters to the pavilion each, while Lungi Ingedi, Wayne Parnell and Aidan Markram claimed one wicket each.

The South African innings did not get off to a good start and on 87 runs, 4 of their top batsmen returned to the pavilion. On this occasion, middle-order batsman Hiernik Klaasen got rid of sixes from the West Indian bowlers with his smoky batting. He scored 119 runs off just 61 balls with the help of 15 fours and 5 sixes and played a key role in leveling the series by leading his team to victory. All-rounder Marko Jonsson (43 runs) also supported Heinerklaasen by staying at the wicket.

Al-Ziri Joseph took the most three wickets for West Indies.
