Abu Dhabi (PNP) : Royal Champs handed Quetta Qavalry their first loss of the season, by 14 runs in their final group stage match at the ongoing 2025 Abu Dhabi T10. Vishen Halambage (41 off 19, 1/9) put in an all round performance to help the Champs post 111/8 while Andries Gous’ fighting fifty in the second innings went in vain.

The run chase faltered early as Liam Dawson scalped Evin Lewis and Irfan Khan.

Openers Andries Gous (62* off 33) waged a lone battle, studded with seven fours and two sixes. Liam Livingstone (14 off 11) and Khawaja Nafay failed to make significant contributions. Gous combined with Azam Khan (10 off 7) for a 42-run partnership, but the equation proved too steep for the Qavalry as they finished at 97/4.

In the first innings, Abdul Ghaffar (2/6) provided the early breakthrough, removing Jason Roy and Quentin Sampson, while Umar Lohya removed Aaron Jones to leave the Champs at 3/15 in 3.1 overs.

Brandon McMullen (22 off 13) and Vishen Halambage (41 off 19) then revitalized the innings, thumping two sixes each in a 52-run stand off just 11 balls. Daniel Sams also raced to 20 runs in seven balls to set up the finish.

However, English pacer George Scrimshaw (3/28) picked up three wickets in the final over to hold the Champs at 111/8.
