Decision to fix the quota of Sponsorship Hajj Scheme at 50%

Islamabad: The government has decided to fix the quota of sponsorship Hajj scheme at 50% while the remaining 50% quota will be allocated for public and private Hajj scheme.

According to Express News, Minister of Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor met Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in which Haj policy, sponsorship scheme, payment of funds in Saudi Arabia were discussed.

According to the sources, the finance minister has indicated the arrangement of foreign exchange for the pilgrims despite the difficult economic situation and has said that the government will take all possible measures for the ease and convenience of the guests of Allah.

According to the sources, Hajj expenditure is estimated between 11 to 12 lakh rupees at the current dollar rate. Next week, after getting the approval from the cabinet, the Minister of Religious Affairs will officially announce the receipt of Hajj applications. It is likely to start from March 13.

Sources say that the government has taken a principled decision to set the quota of sponsorship Hajj scheme at 50% and the other 50% Hajj quota has been allocated to public and private Hajj schemes.

Hajj Sponsorship Scheme is only for overseas Pakistanis or their relatives. Pakistanis remitting foreign exchange from abroad to a designated account will be able to benefit from this scheme. A Pakistani passport will be required to join the sponsorship scheme, while under the regular Hajj scheme, Hajj applications will be collected in designated banks in Pakistan as usual.
