Despur: Indian Army Lieutenant Colonel Amarinder Singh was arrested on the charge of brutally murdering a 35-year-old woman.
According to Indian media, the body of a woman wrapped in plastic was found on February 15 in Kamrup Changsari, Assam.
During the investigation, the police found that the woman had come to meet a lieutenant colonel of the Indian Army on February 14, a day before her murder.
The Assam Police got solid evidence of the murder, on the basis of which Lieutenant Colonel Amarinder Singh Walia, who is posted in the Public Relations Department of the 4th Corps of the Indian Army, was arrested.
Lt. Col. Amarinder Singh confessed to the murder and said that the body was thrown on the highway, but the police said that the motive of the murder could not be determined yet.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages. The case is being examined from every angle and no matter how influential the murderer is, the verdict will surely bring punishment.
